Ireland and the Irish identity have been shaped by migration. People have left and still leave the island for many reasons, whether pushed by circumstances at home or pulled by opportunities abroad. No two stories are the same, but many are linked by common motivations and shared experiences. Today these emigrants and their descendants number over 70 million people, and can be found in all four corners of the globe.

Nathan Mannion serves as the Head of Exhibitions and the museum. He holds a BA in Heritage Studies from Atlantic Technical University and an MA in Arts Management and Cultural Policy from University College Dublin. He currently serves as Chairperson of the International Council of Museums, Ireland, and is a regular contributor to the Irish Times and Irish Lives Remembered magazine.
